i was at the local junkyard and i came across 3 quad 4 16v dohc 2 where in a calais and 1 was in a grand am 2 of them have bout 90,000 and 1 has 55,000milies he only wants 500 for it and he said i can take the car so i have all the parts what u alll think

do you think you're capable of fabricating all the new brackets and changing all the ECM equipment over? It wont be an easy job for sure! But, if its like a project for fun that you really wounldnt care if it didnt turn out in the end, go for it... 500bux is a good price for a motor, tranny, ecm and such as long as it works properly :-)

not to mention...PRAY that you never have to replace a water pump or head gasket, which are common for going out on these...book time on a water pump in a grand am with a quad motor is about 8 hrs...head gasket runs upwards of 14-16 hours., and this is for strictly labor...no parts included...

420, I know you'd like more power...however, the ideas you've been having lately are simply more trouble than they're worth...your best bet is to just do what little you can with the 2.5, or sell your car and buy a V6 version....either way, you'll be into it for ALOT less than trying to do some type of bastard engine swap on it, no offense intended...
