I voted for Cutlass.... but let me specify I was thinking of the older RWD cutlasses, not the newer FWD ones.

well Jman I think you've come to the right place to talk about delta 88's... Quite a few people with the same car as you. check out all our cardomain pages, and tell us what you ultimately want to do with your car.

Lowrider?
Rice?
Stock?

give us a place to start and we can help you out a bit better.

oh WOW!! LOOK!! yet ANOTHER Impala all pimped to the point that it most likely isn't driven at all, but trailered everywhere..

Ok, I'm gonna go on a rant here... (Brando...brace yourself buddy! HERE WE GOOOOOO!!!! :P )

While I DO like pretty much all types of cars ( with the exception of some utterly tasteless "ricer" cars and the occasional high end car), one of the things I really hate is the cars that get so completely overdone or over restored that the owner is afraid to drive it...now, lets take this Impala for example...while it is a nice car, and for the most part tastefully done, its realistic to think that the thing most likely gets trailered everywhere, never gets driven (Lord knows we wouldn't want to chip all the chrome underneath, let alone polish it on a daily basis if it got dirty), and when not at shows simply sits in storage...WHY!??!! Whats the sense in owning such a beautiful car if you can't enjoy it? I know, I know...I'm going to hear some of the following arguements:
1. Its extremely rare, so I don't want anything to happen to it
2. I have a ton of money into it, and don't want anything to happen to it
3. You never see these anymore, so its worth keeping locked away
4. I can't afford to drive it
5. I'm planning on fixing it up someday

Now, lets break these down one by one...
1. How do you know its rare if noone ever sees it? How can you truly estimate its value if it never sees the light of day? Sitting can cause as much if not more damage than driving it and enjoying it.

2. Why would you invest a shitload of $$$ into something you'll never drive or use? Whats the point? Why not invest it or put it into a bank to draw interest? It would be more useful in the end....

3. No, you don't see them, BECAUSE YOU NEVER TAKE THE DAMNED THING OUTTA THE GARAGE!!!! How are car enthusiasts such as ourselves supposed to appraciate an automobile if we can't even SEE IT???

4. Ok...you can't afford to drive it, yet you can afford to stick countless dollars into it, put insurance on it, brag about owning one..for what? I mean, WTF kinda excuse is this? Why even bother?

5. THIS has GOT to be the best one yet....probably 50 percent of the people who have said this sometime in their life have either let the car rot into the ground, or have never done anything with it...this is the person with the '69 H/O sitting in the yard that says no to every person that asks if its for sale, yet it sinks further into the ground with each passing day...need more? check out cars in barns.com...nuff said

While I do realize there are cars which are extremely rare and such, I simply CANNOT see the sense in keeping it under constant lock and key, and never getting it out to drive it, enjoy it, appreciate it...whether it be a Hemi Cuda or a 69 H/O or any of the countless other rare or exotic musclecars or classics that are out there....WHY OWN IT IF YOU CAN'T ENJOY IT!?!?!?! WHY build something so unrealistic that it can't be driven? Take for example many of the cars featured in Lowrider, or even Hot Rod, Car Craft, and PHR....are they works of art? Hell yes they are...are they great to look at? Yep... NOW, would someone drive them on a regular basis? Probably not, HOWEVER, I notice more and more "real world rides" appearing in the car magazines compared to how it used to be...Hell, look at Troy Trepanier or Chip Foose...these guys build DRIVERS...as wild as they may appear, the cars they make are functional and can be driven regularily, and THAT, my friends is how it SHOULD be...no damned trailer queens, no "locked in the garage" cars, no "I own a beautiful car but I'm afraid to drive it and get a dent in it".....bottom line is: JUST DRIVE THE DAMNED THING!!!! IT'S A CAR OK!?!?!!
(note, for members here who MAY have a car such as this, I meant no personal attacks...it was a general description)...

Rant over :D

oh, and toco...if your favorite cars of all time are Impalas and Mustangs, why the HELL are you on an Olds site??? Just curious.......

600 + HP and street legal to boot!
What is your definition of "drive it"? I can cruise my grey coupe from the LA basin to the San Francisco area for a car show and back on whatever is in the pump when I stop for gas, then, unchanged, run the numbers in my sig.
Regards, Norm
