Did a little research and 37 and 74 bulbs are the same thing!
These are what you would want to use:

LEDs provide rich color, and last a LONG time....they're also efficient, use very little current.
Painting the bulbs, the paint will wear off....the bulbs get that hot!

This place also has the 74 LED bulbs, $1.19 a piece!

Red colored bulbs must stay in the back. You can change you corner lenses and side marker lenses to clear, but the bulb must stay amber colored to be legal. Not sure where you would find them, but I know a lot of people take the amber lense and actually take the amber coating inside and scrape it out, to make it a clear lense. Might wanna search Google on that one.

sounds like a trip to the junk yard is in order.
get some corner lenses and scrape the amber out of THEM instead of your originals.
there's no going back after it's gone so you'll have the factory ones just incase.

i never modify anything thats original..always get a duplicate and screw that up instead.

my car can become completely stock again in about 2 days..

This is a very good idea, just like how I am planning to mount my tweeters in my doors, I'll need to fiberglass a plastic piece of there...so I am going to get them from the junkyard and fiberglass those! (just in case I happen to screw up.... :x )
