Hey all,
I've been looking for a real pool 8-ball for the longest time to make into a shifter on my car. The OEM shifter bit the dust LONG ago, and its been an ugly stump ever since.
I finally broke down and bought a ball the other day while in the game store, and today I'm going to drill it out and epoxy it onto my shifter. I think this is going to look sweet... Any theories?
I'll get a pic or two up later on when its all done. |

Hi 88delta88, Psyco Diver 69
Back before the 8 ball knob became the big fad, one would bag one from the local pool hall, drill and tap it and screw it onto his shifter. They quickly became available from the aftermarket, and may still be available after these many years. It would be a great nostalgia piece.
Regards, Norm |

Well I had to MAKE my own because the aftermarket ones were threaded... My shifter is just a rod with a knurled (spelling) grip on it to stop it from turning.
It worked out VERY well. Nice to be able to grab something to shift the car with, instead of that nubb. Looks quite nice, and it was even very easy to drill out!
I was thinking of stealing one from the pool hall, but never made it there... Besides, thats stealing!! ;-) The pool ball I bought is slightly smaller than standard size, I dont know if they call it a snooker ball... Perfect fit though, pictures soon! |
