|
|
I have a '65 Olds Jetstar 88 that I'm frame-off restoring and customizing and for the 350-400hp motor its gonna have, I need something more than stock manual 9.5" drums all around  .
I've learned that the Jetstar 88 is the low end of all the 88's. It runs a few midsize components, the 330 small block with 2 speed trans, and the small 9.5" brakes. Anyways I need disc brakes and for that I need disc brake spindles.... the trouble is that many fullsize kits say that it wont fit the Jetstar 88 for some reason so I dont know what to get for my car.
Does anyone know anything about these Jetstar 88s about if they have special spindles or maybe midsize cutlass spindles? Thanks. |

| hmm thats a tough, what basic frame did they share with other GM models? I ask because GM loved to share under carriage compoents within it self. You should post this in www.oldspower.com and www.realoldspower.com because this may be a tough question |

Well, its a B-Body and the frame and body is the same exact thing as all the 88's... Jetstar 88, Dynamic 88, Delta 88... there all the same basically besides the engine and other options. Mines the lowest end and it uses midsize drivetrain and midsize brakes but i dont know if that means the spindles are midsizers as well.
I'll check out those other websites though, thanks. |

| I e-mailed SSBC and they said that the reason all the kits won't fit the jetstar model is because "The spindle configuration is different..." But also I've went on other Olds sites and found something about a Corvette C5 13" brakes conversion that I could do on my car. All I gotta do is machine my spindle knuckle for the C5 hub to fit on and fabricate a bracket to hold the C5 caliper. Theres a few threads about it on other sites so I'll see and maybe I'll try converting to Corvette brakes (sounds really good). |
