Its normal for the engine to idle higher when its cold because its in an open loop. When the engine hits a certain temp, and the 02 sensor is sending certain range of voltage and a certain amount of time has past since uve started the engine it will go in closed loop. Do you have a tach? Wats the cold idle? Signs of a bad IAC would probably be surging, stalling or almost wanting to stall than revving up on its own.

Thats not normal, get the code its showing. get a wire and put it in the last 2 ports on the top row of ur port under the dash/steering wheel. put the car to the on position and it will flash the codes 1 blinks, 2 blinks means code 12, it'll do that 3 times and it will flash the trouble code (eg 3 blinks 4 blink code 34) then again it will flash code 12 and either 34 again or if u have more codes it'll show that.
