| Thats a interesting title for your company, what do you plan for the engine? Are you looking into a swap, lots of up grades for just some basic changes? |

Nice ride hope you have fun modifying it (the best part!). Couple of suggestions- we have the same engine in the rear of Al's 94 442 (cutlass)(actually 3800 from 90 Trofeo) and the best bet with the heads is to get the 95-96 and later heads with the roller rockers (already correct vavletrain geometry-get the pushrods too) but you might want to grab the whole shortblock from a 90's (roller lifter cam!) and it doesn't have the balance shaft (the trofeo doesn't) as it still has the split journal crank.
The limited slip is a great addition! but for the accumulator's your best bet is to tap the feed holes and plug them (keeps crud from accumulating in the accumulator bores!) but in the 4t60e from the trofeo a quick mod I did was to put polyeurethene around the shaft inside the spring pocket (a kit for (larger) sway bar bushings provided the "pucks") to still allow the accumulator to function as it should (to keep dramatic pressure spikes from flipping/blowing the clutch pack actuator piston seals)
You've got a sweet ride enjoy customizing it, it'll turn out sweet! |

heh thanks for the idea with the acummulator springs, as for the rest, great ideas. But I can't use any of that unfortunately unless I swap completely over to series 1 3800 (and if I'm spent the time swapping I might as well go with the L67[series2 s/c] or a northstar). none of the 3800 engine parts swap onto mine ....that's one of the crappy parts about starting with first year car... I've got a transition motor...same block design as the RWD 3.8 cars (yet nothing swaps across) ...but it kinda looks like a 3800 (yet again nothing swaps across).... but since it's(LG3) castings and design as 'based' on the LC2 (n/a) and LC3 (turbo) ...I'm gonna see if small block chevy parts work... or are close enough to make fit with little problem. after the current engine has the bolt on stuff listed I'm gonna snag another block and trans, do some of the things I didn't get a chance too with the current motor ... then after the motors and trans are ready, keep upping the jets on the nitrous kit and see what the motor can really take  |

Dontcha just hate transition years! if it's based on the earlier 3.8L you will actually be able to use the sbc roller rockers 1.5 will bolt on but 1.6's will need the pushrod hole enlarged (i think it might have factory screw in studs with guide plates-but not sure)-the pushrods might need to be extended/shortened so dont forget to check that valvetrain geometry. youll have lots of fun seeing how much laughing gas she'll take! but I bet the differential pin goes first (especially w/ right tire fire!) the 4t60/4t60e are known for it- weve been considering welding (Lincoln Locker) Al's in the 94 442 (2nd trans and the 3rd diff (first tranny didn't survive the second diff failure) are in it now (with the accumulator polyurethane pucks)the rear engine dont spin the tire/s (-YET!) but the front does so we have been seriously considering welding it.
good luck on finding a L67 (i believe that they come with the 4t65e-the same trany behind the N star/Aurora).
nothin like destruction! to start the resurection! schlim |
