hi, Im new here, and I just wanted to say hello. I just bought an 88 olds delta 88, Hurse, from an auction. Im excited about it, as the plans I have for its make over are going to be exciting. "havent been this excited about something this cool in a long time".

| I bought an iron manifold for a 425 4bbl application from a guy once. It came from a 1968 98 hearse. That car was soooooooo long. |

I had a 425 in my old 79 caddy! decent amount of power, but everything went wrong with it.
I hear a lot of hot rodders liked those 425 blocks or something, lots could be done with them. I also heard from some one that my 425 was a small block... I dont know if thats true... |

| I think I remember that the 425 has the same bore as a 455 but shorter stroke than the 455,hence less total displacement. I think the deck height is the same though, that's why I could use the intake, it had the same dimensions. The 425 engines were called Ultra High Compression, about 10.25:1 CR. Can anyone say "high octane fuel required"? |

surprisingly enough... for the 4 or 5000 pound car it was, it didnt use much more gas than my 305 caprice... I once measured in town driving at 14litres/100km
my delta is 10litres/100km and my caprice clocked in at 12litres/100km. I like to take fuel economy measurements with my cars... But these numbers are driving the car with a VERY light foot... Thats not how I normally drove my cars. |

LOL I do that with lots of the cars I come incontact with. The Olds gets 27 (23 in city, 32 on highway) and my dad's Civic gets 32 in the city, 37 on the highway. |

I usually don't bother with fuel mileage measurements only because I don't really care. :)
I do know the '87 gets around 10-12mpg combined city/highway and goes down from there when having more fun. :D |

| I'm pulling about 13-14 MPG with my 442. The Cutlass used to pull 20 and about 24 on the highway. I'm hoping after the cam, intake and tranny swap to pull about 20mpg with my 442 |
