i heard a rumorthat you could mate a 5 spd from a 3.1 up to a 3.8 if this is at all possible that would sweet, cause i have have a floor shift A/T and i cant imagine it being to hard to do the swap. i would just like to squezze a few horses out of her...maybe a supercharger with a 5 spd :idea: :D
any imput on this matter would help a great deal. plus...has anybody heard of a "mex cutlass euro bodykit"?? if so can you show me a pic..thanx |

| No, a 3.1 is dimensionally different than a 3.8 in regards to block and bellhousing pattern, so the 3.1 5 speed will not bolt up to a 3.8. I suppose one could fabricate an adapter plate to make it possible, but it would almost be too much bother in the end. |

3.1/3100/3400 => 60 deg V6 belhousing pattern
3.3/3.8(FWD/RWD)/3800 (I and II)/4.3L(there's a swap!-hood clearance issues though!) => 90 deg V6 belhousing pattern (identical to SBC) |

There is such a thing as the Chevy Cutlass Eurosport. It was available in mexico only and and was known nere as the ciera. It was available w/ five spd trannies also. The kit didn't differ from ours until after 1991, that's when they got real cool looking! check out
Mexixcan Chevy Cutlass Eurosport
For more details. they also had 2 drs up until 96 I believe. |

i love the red four door with the spoiler. that car looks awsome...its kinda what i visioned for my ceira only mine would be all black. :D :D..thanx for the pics. well since the rumors are false about the 5 spd/3.8 what about a 4.3 vortec with a 5 spd(sorry i just kant help it..i love 5 speeds)
GM told me it could be done..but i dont know if there would be a large gain in horsepower/torque...im clueless when it comes to the 4.3. but could u imagine a ceira with a 4.3 vortec :twisted: with a performance intake :twisted: :twisted: and i would totally make dual puffers fit :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: . but then again a dude can dream :lol: |

Hi All
Except for being a front drive, it looks like it was done my way.

| I looked at that 5 speed swap. That was nice. I was curious though as I have an Oldsmobile with that Series one 3800 motor and what car I would look for in the junkyard to find all the supercharger parts. Also, does anyone know how much boost those superchargers create and what's the maximum boost they are capable off with a smaller pulley? Reliably of course. |

all the info you could possibly want is here:
http://www.3800tech.com/forum/
and mainly $ is your only limit-that and too small of a pulley results in belt slippage....
good luck |

Thank you. That yielded some very good info. I think motor swap might be the way to go for me. The next step will be trying to make my fat car handle better. Anyone know where I can find a fully adjustable ride setup for my car or who has had one custom made before?
I don't think money will be a problem.
I also plan on having the exterior repainted and having all the emblems and door handles shaved. Don't worry though, it's not going to be cheesed. NO 20 inch rims going on here. Not unless they are forged. LOL |

making that car handle should be not much of a problem with a F41 spring drop some high end struts and some new endlinks and sway bars (32mm and 21mm in the rear). Along with a Series II L67 Drop, make sure you get that in the 280HP/330Lbs range though first to make it worth your time. Oh yeah when you do the drop dont forget to change over all your wiring harnesses and electronics since this is not 1975 anymore.
with that you should be able to get in the the 14's with not much work and have a car that actually can take a corner once in a while. |

| I read somewhere (have no idea where) that GM is supposed to be making a 6 speed manual for the supercharged Series III 3800. Has anyone else heard of this? |
