#-o well that sure would be something if it were accomplished, but even if by some act of god you found a way to mount it in there and adapt it to your tranny, there simply isn't enough room in there.

Is is possible and has been done. There was at least 1 running in NHRA, Division 7 meets during the early 90s.
He ran high tens or low elevens with a bone stock 305/TH350. I'll see if I can contact him and post back with his best.
If you've checked out the engine and the car and still have to ask, the conversion is not for you.

Hi again

I'll post more as I find more.

Hello all
A quick Google gave me this pic of his newer car, a '95 Achieva.
I'm posting the link instead of the pic because it is copyrighted
I didn't realize its been so long since I talked to him. I'll drop by his shop sometime Monday and refresh my memory.
More to come.
Regards, Norm

edit: Here is a '91 calais that runs 9.40s.

Yes, but these cars have completely different drivetrains than what came in them.... I thought he was asking if he can just "drop" a 350 into his 1990 Ciera. My advise would be to buy a car that is already RWD and go from there, or if you're adventerous and know what you're doing... look for an Aurora V8. (those are already meant for FWD) I can't attest to how dificult it would be to get that engine in there, but it's probably possible.

Hi 73Delta88, hello all

GraveReaper0 answered his own question and I gave examples showing what it takes to do it.

I'll elaborate.

Given enough time and/or money, anything is possible.

Those guys make a living from what they are doing, and for them it is well worth it.

The only way a 350 Chev just "drops" into any anything, is if it is replacing another SBC in the same year and model car.

Here are two basic rules to remember when considering FWD engine swaps.

1) North/south engines do not like to be placed in a sideways position.
2) FWD does not work well with significant amounts of torque.

The Aurora V8 may or may not fit in the car but would create extreme drivability problems without extensive rework of the drivetrain, suspension, and steering geometry.

My choice woud be to leave it as is. The best way is always to work with a "toy" and keep your daily transportation reliable.

Each individual must consider for himself whether any modification might worth the effort involved, based on his own level of experience and the depth of his wallet.
