Hi, I'm new to this. What exactly is required to install a new suspension in an 89 cutlass ciera? My suspension is nearly shot and if I do work on it. I would like to lower it a couple inches. What do I need to do?

If you get smaller springs, you should also upgrade the struts.

alrighty. so shorter springs and upgraded sway bars. what type of springs and sway bars do you recommend. I see that eibach has discontinued their production of cutlass ciera lowering springs. (That's according to a post in another forum.)

Sway bars aren't struts.... :-s
Also, Eibach has springs for the 1993-1994 Cutlass Ciera....but not 1989...

They usually come with them stock, I know mine has front and rear.
But here is an upgrade for the rear anti-sway bar on our 88s:

From what I've heard, FE3 suspension is larger diameter sway bars than stock, and the rack & pinion is the sport suspension type. It has a quicker gear ratio than the standard. Which I actually have (just need to install), the difference is instead of the standard granny style 3.2 turn lock to lock, it's 3 turns lock to lock with the sport suspension.

Hi Brando, All
The difference between 3.2 and 3 turns is not much. Are you sure of those numbers?
That difference wouldn't be worth my time unless I was replacing a worn out box anyway.

That's what the autozone site says....but I'm not too sure about those numbers...as it doesn't say that on the Federal Mogul site (MOOG & TRW).

autozones site is never right, it says that someting at the store needs to be ordered and its in stock, or the opposite will happen. Ill look in my dealer guide to see what it says about FE3 if it says anything at all.

i tried the lock to lock thing mine is at 2.something(rotations) so my steering is pretty tight. so ill assume that i have the FE3 suspension...since...well i have the international and that is whats listed on my options list. you should check my www.cardomain.com/memberpage/693371 you would be surprised at what the international came with. i was.

Well yea, you have the Sport Suspension...which is just another name for the FE3. Only 2 turns lock to lock, eh? Cool...I have something a little more to look forward too after buying the sport rack & pinion. :D
