I disagree. I had 2 12" used MTX's in my car for about a year, they knocked pretty good but they were seriously old and they blew.

The only pioneer stuff I buy (or trust) is thier speakers

I had to 2 12" Rockford Punch Z in my old cutlass and they knocked great. By the way I stripped all my good system componets out of the car because its forsale, not sure if I'm going to sell it all yet but I don't want to put it in my 442

Everyone has their own horror stories about car audio brands...

Myself, I dont mind MTX because I had a set of 10" mtx thunders... I ran them for 4 whole years, and they worked hard. Finally gave them away for a nicer sounding speaker... But the point I guess is that they lasted 4 years...

I am sure no one will disagree when I say never to waste money on pyramid, or jensen parts... I have owned both in the past, and wished I didnt... :-)

But I cannot stand Rockford Fosgate. My buddy bought a set of 10" fosgate woofers and killed those 3 months later. They replaced them for him and one went back 2 months after that... My other buddy bought a RF 250 watt amp or something and it was warrantied at least once... But they were hardcore RF fans, so they kept buying it... and warrantying it... :-)

Never buy sony, I had an explode deck and it quit reading cd's after two weeks, so i threw it at the guys at best buy and got my money back, and then went to circuit city and got my pioneer with organic EL display and it has worked great for almost a year now.

I have a Eclipse head unit and I have to say its the best head unit I ever had. I ran a couple different head units (sony, pioneer, ect) but most of them broke up when they got really loud. I dropped this eclipse in and it sounded perfect, I had this one song my Ramstien called Engel which has a lot of whistling in it and in my old units it never bothered me but with this unit I have now it hurt the hell out of my ears and it felt like a sharp blade stabbing into my head. Plus that song has a cool bass guitar solo, it made my car buzz so hard that one of my girlfriends told me to turn it off because umm well you know :D

I was running to 2 12" rockford Punch Zs. I'm not to big of a fan of rockford but a birthday present is a birthday present, can't let it go to waste 8) right now I'm not running a system in either car, I pulled all my good stuff out of my cutlass and dropped in a crappy radio so I can sell the car and in my 442 I only have my Eclipse head unit and 2 Jenson 6x9s in the rear. I kinda miss having a system. For my 442 I'm getting new kick panels with 3.5 inch pioneer 2 way speakers in them and I'm putting 2 Pioneer 3 way 6x9s in the back, then I'm probably going to run only a 8 inch JL sub in the back if I need it (I don't need a thumping sound system in a muscle car) Oh and I might buy one of the new Eclipse head units because mine is like 2 or 3 years old.

psyco...theres a place that makes the kick panels with 6.5" openings, either with or without speakers...was like $119 for the ones with speakers, or like $70-80 without...i can find the info again for ya if you like....in my 72 i'm running 6.5" in the front door and 6x9's in the rear deck with only an AM/FM tape deck...the BIG stereo is in the vista
