I would suggest a proper application of contact cement. I have used clear silicone in the past with emblems and badges with good success, but I am afraid the moldings are too heavy for mere silicone.

Contact cement is great stuff, but, PVC cement, as you suggested earlier, would have a different outcome.

correct
remove any old glue or tape from the car, i use a earser wheel you can buy them at body shop supplier, no good method of removing old tape off body side moldings i use a razor blade and peel off the old tape
make sur eyou clean the molding off real good using laquer thinner of a wax and grease remover
reapply the tape re apply the molding
i suggest not doing a glue on moldings to big and to heavy again 3m makes a name plate glue just for name plates only

go to your local body shop supplier store they will have it
just ask for double sided tape
