i'd think there would be a set screw holding it on and then would screw off. but i'm sure you all already checked that,right?
could also be just glued on.
you could always take a pair of vice grips and just crush the tip of it and see how it's held on. would be better then cutting it off in my opinion.
i'd go look at mine but ofcourse i have a floor shift so cant help you there..
