Hi Keefer, hello everyone,

Welcome to TOC.

I was not going to reply because of your inappropriate use of caps. I will, however, point out your other error.

Image

The image shows a 4 door Sedan, while the caption, incorrectly, reads Holiday.

Regards, Norm

Interesting answer.

Interesting assumption.

Interested in learning about Oldsmobiles, and Clowns.

In case anyone is interested, the above image was added while I was composing my last.

In it, I do not see where it shows the car to be a Style # 3967 (4 door sedan) or Style # 3969 (Holiday).

One does not have to "know Oldsmobiles", to realize that, by nature, commercial ads are not the most accurate means of communication.

Alternatively, Olds/GM is recognized as the most accurate source, and the FSM (Factory Service Manual) is one of the handiest, and most valuable of its resources.

I have seen them before.

keeffer wrote:

As I said above, it is not. Anything that actually came from the factory is.

keeffer wrote:

That would be because I do not have a problem.

keeffer wrote:
........ don't you think i know what i have ........

If you did, you would have captioned your image correctly, and I would not be writing this.

keeffer wrote:

I am happy for you.

keeffer wrote:

We can assume she knew exactly what she bought. It is obvious you do not.

I have one, thank you.

That Style Number will be at the top left, on the cowl tag.

The cowl tag is on the firewall, adjacent to the upper, driver side, door hinge. It is where one would find all the "numbers matching" information.

They can be decoded, using the FSM for that year.

Correction:

88 Coupe wrote:

They can also be decoded using the Factory Parts Manual. I recently learned it disagrees with the FSM.

Olds only used the "Holiday" name for Hardtop Convertibles, from '49 into the 80s. '51 "98" 4 door Sedan was the one exception. FPM called Style #3967, a "Holiday"

So, it appears that keeffer was correct.

Are you looking for the "flattened tube" device that houses the plug wires on a straight six? If so, I have one.

'51s were all V8s. '50 was the last year for the Big Six.

He probably meant these. They fit in the '51 to '60 stands, and are not the same as the '49 to '53 separators that mounted on the rocker covers. All three items could be called "holders".
