No offense, but do you really think that someone is going to give away a 70 442 simply because they have too many? Not likely. Good luck though.

Just thought you might not be aware, that there is little truth (if any) in the entire line.

If you were not, the questions were intended to start a dialog that would make you aware of the facts.

neurotic3d wrote:

Please post a link. I will inform them about the actual facts, so they can make the corrections.

neurotic3d wrote:

We will have plenty of time to discuss your question, after we finish with your sig.

Your syntax looks familiar. Where have I seen it before?

Let's discuss my signature then. From this webstie discusses it. http://rudyed.server101.com/muscle_cars.htm http://www.angelfire.com/emo/musclecars/442.html
http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclecars ... -442.shtml
A muscle car is defined, quote from wikipedia.org
The term muscle car generally describes a rear wheel drive mid-size car with a large, powerful engine (typically, although not universally, a V8 engine) and special trim, intended for maximum torque on the street or in drag racing competition. It is distinguished from sports cars, which were customarily and coincidentally considered smaller, two-seat cars, or GTs, two-seat or 2+2 cars intended for high-speed touring and possibly road racing. High-performance full-size or compact cars are arguably excluded from this category, as are the breed of compact sports coupes inspired by the Ford Mustang, the "pony car". Another factor used in defining a classic muscle cars is age and country of origin.

So with the definition in mind, they say Oldsmobile with their fullsize Rocket V8 into its midsize model to create the Olds 88 and Super 88 series back in 1949; was the first muscle car. This is from Oldsmobile enthusiasts and purists. It's more of an opinion. Like saying that mustangs and camaros are not muscle cars but pony cars. Are we going to end up discussing that also?

How did I guess?

The phrase "Some purists insist" aside: The site exists to sell artwork. Why should anyone consider it a credible source of history?

Actually, it is closer to Historical fact than the other two:
1) In this case, the word "stuck" is slightly more accurate than "stuffed".
2) Because the "statement" is shorter, it contains less errors.

Same statement, word for word. Shouldn't they be considered one source?

In context, they are only introductions to 442 related sites, and do not claim to be historically accurate. Caused me to wonder about any 442 information they might contain.

Quick visit to both, shows there is not much of anything, at either of them.

Is the statement factual? The opening phrase "There are those who claim" should have been your first hint.

neurotic3d wrote:

This "source" has not proven to be the most accurate, on any subject. But that would be another discussion.

The point is moot, because that page does not, in any way, address this subject.

1949?

Have any of those "enthusiasts" and "purists" addressed the questions I actually brought up? Have you?

Are we discussing "opinion" or Historical fact?

neurotic3d wrote:

What does that have to do with a '49 Olds.

neurotic3d wrote:

We can discuss anything I have knowledge about, including Muscle cars. Just start a new thread in the proper forum.

YOU ARE VERY ANAL. GET A LIFE AND ANSWER MY QUESTION, SCHOOL TEACHER. Be more of a Oldsmobile Enthusiast and support any fairy tales that come from Oldsmobile. To say they created the first muscle car is a good thing. Not a bad thing. GET A LIFE LOSER!!! This is NOT your classroom to start correcting how it is worded. Are you going to go to porn sites and correct them when they say rim shot?
GET A LIFE!!! Correct that.

It was a joke from the beginning and you're ignorant if you think I was serious with the offer. You must be very uptight and shove sticks up your ass for fun if you don't understand it as a joke. What's wrong with you people? Have a sense of humor once in a while. You must be pathetic if you all go to every post and comment on it like you're a judge of posts.

Hmm...well, I saw it as a joke....it gave me a chuckle or two.

Sometimes these things are blown a little too out of proportion.

Yes. It was an obvious attempt at humor and it didn't warrant a reply from me.

His sig, however is a different story. Its position implies that it has some basis in fact. My first post explains my position.

His feeble attempt a defending it, shows he is trying to pass it off as fact.
