Even though I already posted, I will add the strangest car I have ever driven, since I owned my Jeep.
A good friend of mine had this land-yacht of a car, a 1966 Pontiac Star Chief Executive. 389 two-barrel, automatic trans- This thing was a tank. It was wide enough and long enough that I swear you could land a small airplane on the thing.
Anyway, the 389 packed some punch, considering the size of the car. It had a vertical speedometer, which I found to be fascinating at that age. We would frequently hit the back roads and put the pedal down for awhile to see how fast we could go. Stupid, I know... but we were all the age of 16 or so.
So one day he lets me drive this car. I was pretty excited, as I was a car nut. So we cruise around town for a little while, and decide to go to a neighboring city to get some food. (Our town really didn't have much in it for restaurants) We decided to go to a Taco Bell drive-thru. Boy, that was a mistake. The place had curbs on both sides of the ¨road¨ that you drive from the speaker to the window, and that big Pontiac didn't fit in between them! I backed up, and popped one side of the car up on the curb, so we could get our food. It was pretty funny, because we were nearly stuck wedged in between those curbs...
So that's the strangest car I have ever driven. I have never seen another since my friends went to the junk-yard about a year after this incident happened.
