I would fight any threat to our country, but not when it is the "bush family war" that bush's daddy never finished. I like how bin laden was the one who composed the attacks of 9/11....and we completley forgot about him and went after sadam. Just seams so dumb and obvious that bush wanted sadam from the beginning, and used 9/11 as an excuse.

85ceiraholiday, what you are saying is you will be patriotic, but only on your terms and if you agree with whoever happens to be president at the time. That doesn't work, throughout my 21 years of military service there were quite a few times when the president and I didn't agree with each other on foreign policy but I obeyed orders, served obediently and protected my country. If I didn't, and many others like me, there would be total chaos. That is called anarchyl, no way to run any country. What you are describing sounds like selfishness to me. You know what, if you ever get to be president, I would think you would want to be assured that the armed services would obey your orders. And that argument you gave about the Bush family war is lame, ever heard of Salmon Pak?

I'm not saying that I think it is bad that we are in Iraq, sadam needed to be taken care of a long time ago, and I'm glad we are finally finishing the job. What I am trying to say is that everyone seams to of forgoten about bin ladan, or at least doesnt care anymore. I personally think that we should of continued to focuss all efforts on bin ladan and the talaban, but instead we left that unfinshed. If we finish up Iraq, and then end up getting bin ladan, then I will be happy. I'm just saying that it is dumb to stop dealing with the big threat and deal with a not so big threat.

I think the people that "appear" to have forgotten is the big three broadcast television companies, a few big newspapers and certain radio broadcasting companies like NPR. They really haven't forgotten about Afghanistan, nor has the present administration, they have just chose to "not cover" the news from there. That makes it seem to many Americans that we aren't doing anything there but we have, along with the help of the Pakistani government. We will get Bin Laden eventually, and all the other major "bad guys" in the terrorism war, it will just take time. How long was WWI, or WWII, or the French-Indian war, or the Civil war, or the Viet Nam conflict? None of them were over with after 14 or 15 months. Perseverence my freind.....

i was thinking about this and if the draft was put into effect and i was drafted i would go fight for my country and possibly die for it if need be...the united states has given us a lot and if i was called upon i would go...I would back up the president in whatever he was doing just because he is the president and whether u like his policies or not he is still our leader and if u don't like it then go vote!!! just my 2 cents and i'm sorry if the people who would just run away from the draft them you don't deserve to live here anyways....

Well, Im not saying that I wouldnt fight for America, just not in such a unstable region, and not if im forced my my counrty to do so. The goverment charges working people enough in tax, they can find other ways then a draft.

IF a draft were put into effect, you'd have little choice but to go....of course you COULD try to PUSS OUT, be a COWARD, and run for the border, but with security tightened the way it is now, I highly doubt you'd make it across the border, through an airport checkpoint, or otherwise get out of the US in an attempt to pull a Bin Laden and make a run for it. As others have said before...FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

What the HELL does this have to do with anything? The taxes you pay have diddly to do with drafting individuals....taxes are either directed back to the states for various projects, or to the federal government. You don't want to pay taxes? Fine...drive on uncared for gravel roads, since taxes help to take care of highway renovation and repair, pay higher premiums on your health and life insurance, since taxes go towards this as well to some point....hell, lets just say to hell with it and not have a government...then EVERYONE can come kick our asses. Once again I have found a touchy spot with Stroker and a few others, this is simply how I feel, dont want to fight any war, as far as taxes, they fund our goverment, so simply payng them on time is more partriotc then someone who owes back taxes. And yes stroker, if this will float your boat a bit higher, it would have to be on my terms.
