out of curiousity, what would happen, if oooo say, i refused to go? what if they came to drag me away and i would just clinch my door knob while they tugged at my feet until the whole door ripped off the hinges? Me personally *my personal feelings, don't care what you think or anyhting of the sorts* i think there is no need for a draft, as there are plenty of volunteers already signed up. if my history serves me correctly *i could be wrong* the reason for the previous draft was because noone wanted to sign up in the army. I dont think we have that problem now. When you live hrere in hampton roads, home of langley and oceana, you see thousands of military, *and then at my work damn jets constantly flying overhead close enuff to read their call signs

I don't know, comes down to it i guess i would *but i would be kicking and screaming alllllll the way there*, but i don't think it would ever be inacted.

Im not upset over the issue at hand, im pissed because this guy is busten my balls for no reason AGAIN! Once again I placed a post with no malace (is that spelled right?) and he calls me a ass, coward, and then writes about the type of person I am when he has never met me. I said that I wouldnt fight in sucha unstable region, and I wouldnt. If they sent me to kosovo (which is still a unstable place) I would go, but no to a place where people with cars loaded with explosives are blowing others up. He implied (is that spelled right?) that I would be upset over the loss of a Micky D's (and I never go there anyway just to let you know, I eat at Subway and Dunkin Donuts). which was kinda babyish. He also starts off the topic (go look at it for yourself) with this sort of stupid ok Brando here i go or something like that I cant remember what it was, but it was really just a "whatch what i do to this one" type thing. He also seems to have a inferiority complex due to his belittleing comments to someone who doesnt agree with him. Oldsguy gave me his responce much better, he showed his what I would call dissapointment in his post towards my not wanting to go to the Middle East, but he didnt call me a ass, and he posted with a sence of pride in what he has done, which I think he deserves. But stroker is simply someone who is overly confident, and to quick to speak, because I know Im not the only one who feels this way, and I didnt call him a ass for joining the army, so why would he call me one for not getting drafted into the army?

And PS there aint gonna be no draft, to many americans against it, and in the New York Post ot Daily News it said BUSH doesnt want to increase the size of our armed forces, John Kerry does.

I don't have ANY problem with DarkShadows posting....he asked what may happen if someone said they didn't want to go, made comments about why he thought the draft wouldn't be enacted. Him and I, as well as most of the members and myself, have talked on several occasions in postings and I didn't have a problem with any of them.

For a week or so everytime I went on it was you who was putting some kind of post saying I was way wrong when I knew I wasnt. all i will share here is that i am way too old to be drafted..
if they needed 37 yr. old man then our country is in pretty bad shape.

Does anyone here know about the canadian military (hahahaha, canadian military) doing drafts? I suppose its amusing that I have no clue as to what happens in canada here, do they draft? I dont even know!

I wouldnt want to go to war, I hate war, fighting, killing... But I would go if I were drafted. As darkshadow said, I'd hold my doorknob until they winched me away... But I would go for my country.

Canada's military for all I know, the biggest fleet of submarines we've got are in west edmonton mall.. We rely on americans to defend us in the event of a catastrophe. Our military is so small and we dont have any equipment. I think we're indebted to americans for everything they supply to us that we take for granted.

When we dont agree what americans are going to war for, we step back and play the innocent little "we dont like to fight". But, if canada was attacked, and the US wasnt available or didnt want to help us out, we'd be totally screwed. Thats just my opinion on military status... Hope I dont start a big fight or something

Damn! 88, that was good to read your post. You are the first Canadian to admit that fact and I appreciate it. I think the same thing is true for France and that is why there is so much animosity towards them in particular now. Anyway thanks.

I see life through colored lenses (just like everyone else). Those lenses are colored by my age, upbringing, religious beliefs and experiences. I appreciate the opportunity to "vent" my feelings about a subject like this and you people allow it. And reciporication is only fair so I need to respect others and let them state their opinions as well, and remember that the viewpoint some of you younger guys have is in large part influenced by much different forces than those that influenced me.

Finally, a fair and objective observation. Nationalism in America is not at high of a level as it was when I was young. Good? Bad? who knows.........

whoa..canada does have an army..it consists of helipcopters...broken down pos's that cost way to much to maintain :p they were going to replace them months back..then i stopped caring..personally i dont want to be part of any war..which is why living in canada is sweet..no one is gonna draft me.....
