Guess what gang. Today I went and signed up with a truck driving school to get my CDL. I talked to one of the owners yesterday, we had a pretty good conversation, he seems to be a good fella too. The school is #1 in the state, so it should be worth the 3 grand for a 5 week course. I start in march, and by the end of April I should be on the road hauling goods.

congrats, thats always sounded like a fun job to me. I never considered doing it because I like to be at home, but the adventures and things you see on the highway are priceless.

I drove for 10 years. My Father is a member of the 2 Million Mile Club. My brother is still hauling steel today. Bro-In-Law hauls chicken fat. (Cluck-Cluck, Chicken Truck)
It is a good career if you have a good head on your shoulders. But, be warned, after the sites are seen, it is still a job.

1: A big truck goes as fast as it can, a large car goes as fast as it wants.

2: 18 wheelers, you get near them, you get dirty, you get in them, you get tired.

3: Keep the shiny side up, and the dirty side down.

There are a zillion little cliches I could quote...

I look forward to giving you a safe pass light flicker. Good luck in your endeavor.

10-4...That's lame ain't it? :)

Thx guys. I am looking forward to seeing the country, and there's a lot of it, so should take a while to see it all. And by then, I plan on quitting the trucking business to open up a computer shop.

Well its been going good so far. I been blowing the instructors and the rest of my class ( so far only 3 people) away with my test scores.
On a general knowledge test first time I got 3 wrong out of 60. The average is 25 out of 60 wrong.
Air brakes 1 outta 50 wrong.
doubles and triples 3 outta 60 wrong.

Can't do my hazmat yet caz you gotta be 21 for that, but they'll let me do it for free when that time comes.
Today I am going to get my permit, should be a breeze.
