Well, the other day I was on my way home from work listening to XM. I thought I was hearing static, or distortion from the radio in the rear speakers. It turns out I blew one of the crappy kenwood 6x9's on the rear deck. I need to replace them now!
I want something with a good mid/bass response, since I've got plenty of treble up front. Any suggestions for a reasonable price? (keep in mind, I'm a relatively new father, speakers arent the highest thing on my wife's list )
Thanks in advance!

Maybe try and do what I did by installing 6 1/2's in the rear deck instead of 6x9's. Course, there isn't as-much bass, but from what I've heard 6 1/2's sound better accousticly (don't exactly know for sure, im still an audio noob) The install is pretty strait forward. Just make some aluminum or MDF brackets and bolt them suckers up. Although, with some of the speaker manufac. grills look ugly, it won't look too good in the back deck area. Actually my set of speakers do have a good amount of mid-bass when combined with my amp. But, it seems that isn't what you're looking for and made you sit through reading that for nothing.
Anyways, I can suggest These because I actually have heard them in person. Sound pretty good for the price. Good amount of mid-bass just off of head-unit power.

i've got 6 1/2" mid bass drivers in the doors up front, with 3 1/2" highs in the dash. Because of the sub setup in the trunk, I had to remove the factory 6x9 speaker mounts (the sub ports up through both openings now). I relocated the 6x9's into MDF boxes on the rear deck. They are ugly as hell, but they actually sound a lot better in sealed boxes.
If I could get respectable bass/midbass from 6 1/2" speakers, I wouldnt mind building similar mdf boxes for the rear deck to suit. I think the dollar to dB ratio is my deciding factor.

wow... interesting looking! I am almost afraid they'll drown everything out! Brando, how will they sound without a crossover? It certainly has my attention

What do you mean how will they sound without a crossover? They need a crossover, low passed.
As far as getting mid bass out of your front 6.5s...I would deaden the doors. Get some second skin damplifier pro, and seal up the doors. You will be amazed.
Check this out:

The point is to seal up the interior side of the door with sound deadening mat, effectively creating a baffle. Infinite Baffle. You basically make the door into a huge sealed enclosure, of course it's not going to be perfectly sealed (drain holes at the bottom)...but the closer, the better for midbass.

Well, I ordered these from Crutchfield:
Audiobahn
I like the detachable tweeter feature, the high power handling, and the PRICE!!! We'll see how they sound when they get here!

So... ordering speakers over the internet has turned out to be a bit tougher than I had originally thought it to be...
Apparently, after much grief, crutchfield does not ship to canada. Amazon.com found the same speakers from "car audio giants" for 30.99! So I re-placed my order through them for the same audiobahns. 7 days later, when I am expecting to GET the speakers, Amazon.com sends a message saying car audio giants is temporarily out of stock.
Cardomain.com cant ship MTX, Rockford, Infinity, Kicker and a few other brands to canada for some odd reason. I settled with these:
Webpage Title
They're quite a bit more expensive, but shipping is half the battle. I think they'll sound excellent!

it certainly did, 87delta...
I installed them last night and played for about half hour with them. They sound GREAT. No raspy highs, like the onld ones, just very very balanced sound. No matter the volume level, nothing seems to get drowned out in the volume, like the old peices of crap.
I think though, I need a new amplifier. I have a JBL Loud+Clear amp from a few years back. For the most part, its a good amp, but lacks the balls to really move these speakers.

Are you looking new 6X9" speaker? Okay, That's good. Don't take any tension. I am going to give you a best suggestion to buying a 6X9 speaker. Because A few days ago I bought a speaker from a manufacturing site Cerwin Vega Mobile. The product really caught my attention. And I noticed that all the products on this site are quite reasonable and have good features. I hope the site will help in your product selection. Thank you!!
