Was trying to wire up the new/used head unit today. Got all the power plugs wired up, but couldn't get it to power up. I checked the obvious, Red to Red, Yellow to Yellow, etc. I plugged in the old head unit. No power. Then I found by plugging this wire pictured below it had power again. My question to you audio guys is, what the hell is this wire used for? I know it is what is holding me back, I just dont know where to wire it to. I have the wire pictured below and if I need to ill snap a picture of the head units wires. Thanks in advanced.

This is why you should buy a Wiring Harness....

That orange wire is your Constant power, it should be hooked up to the Yellow on your aftermarket head unit, the brown wire is just for the dimmer, and most lower end head units don't use it. Red to red? That troubles me because there isn't a red wire in the oem harness....but the Yellow wire connects to the red wire on your head unit, switched power.

Here is some information

Brando you are da man! Plugged in everything today and she works. It's amazong how much better the speakers sound with a new head unit. Also with all these new CD technologies, im over-excited about a tape player, lol. I used quick connectors on the wiring harnesses for quick use next time I put in a different head unit. Thanks again!
