? for you guys. I blew like 3 20 amp fuses the past 2 days. Can i put a higher amp fuse in that radio spot to offset it or what? I redid wiring and tightened it all up, just dont care for it blowing. Also moved the sat radio antenna to middle of roof now just gotto hide that antenna wire.

If it keeps blowin the fuse, theres a problem somewhere, possably in the head unit itself. I would not reccomend a higher amp rating fuse, you'll only mask the problem and will likely cause a serious problem.

Something is shorting out, putting a larger amperage fuse will cause the wire itself to become the fuse...it will burn up, possibly start a fire, and you probably don't want that.

What is the fuse for? Just the radio?

*edit* it is also very possible that the radio is just using too much current for the stock power wire. Upgrading the power wire is not an uncommon thing to do. Running a wire straight from the battery to the radio, fused of course. Check the manual for the radio to see what the current draw is.

I forgot to mention, when you upgrade the power wire, you want the ground to be the same size/gauge. So you would upgrade the ground wire too.

What model Pioneer is it?

Also dawned on me lol. Buildings are on the right always so drivers side is always in middle of road. I lose Sirius in town so if i just move the antenna to where it would mount on a truck then it should be good lol.

Max current draw for that head unit is only 10A...

Is the ground wire that you used a different size than the power wire?

I dont know either but it seems that it might be a circuit if thats possible. Ok here is my reasoning for that. If i push cigarette lighter in it pops it. Also gotta figure out this antenna lol ill let you guys know if i get anywhere with that.

yea, the cigarette lighter and radio run on the same circuit :-k
I have no idea what the current draw for a cigarette lighter uses...but I would imagine it's a good amount, and the stock radio is pretty much nothing (1-2 amps).

So when you use the cigarette lighter, and it "pops" the circuit, is the radio on at the same time? Does it blow the fuse without the radio on? Does the fuse blow with just the radio on? Need more info...

If the fuse is only blowing when you use the cig lighter and the radio is on, then running the radio on a separate power wire from the battery (fused) as I mentioned would be a good solution. New ground wire of same gauge too.

If it pops the circuit with just the cig lighter, no radio on...then the lighter is messed up. Replace it. Had same problem in my intrigue, lighter would blow the fuse, but plugging the radar detector in...etc, didn't.

If it blows the fuse with only the radio on....well....we're back at square one.

About the sirius satellite...I don't have much experience with satellite radio...but what about the antenna? Mounting it where it would be on a truck? I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Is it mounted on the roof?

Yes its on the roof like they mount it above drivers side.

Ok well today the radio was on and i pushed the cig lighter in and it popped. So that their is probally what your saying run new wire in.

A guy w expertise on this told me it might just be a defective antenna as he said anywhere on the roof should be good.

About how difficult to run all new power wire in?I dread that lol as thats pretty tight quarters.

typically, you can recieve sattelite radio from anywhere on the roof. If you possibly pinched the antenna cable (it is coax cord afterall) there could be damage, and therefore the antenna may work poorly, or not at all. Check the length of cord for any damage, and lemme know...

For the most part, a lot of my friends have the antenna on the dash and it works great for them... Just a little ugly I think.

I dont know how it work on dash though its a magnet basically. Only place i can see a pinch is either in the plastic from the outer headliner to the bottom by the door where it goes hard into the car or maybe cuz i got it wrapped up inside and have a plastic tie on it like the excess.
