Been going through boxes since the move, and found my dads old car audio box full of odds and ends. Found what appears to be a Rockford Fosgate Punch 30 amp. Now I heard they are very under-rated, so I could quite possibly use them for my Polks. Anybody got any other information about this amp? I don't know much about the old school stuff.

From what I have read, this series of RF amps is quite underrated. The Punch 30 is the little guy of the group, but it should do quite nicely powering a decent pair of speakers (like your Polks). The published specs are not overly spectacular, but the headroom that you will get from an amp like that, assuming it is working properly, is much greater than you will get from your in-dash receiver. RF has the manual published on their website here... http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/scripts/ ... PTE*&p_li=

If the link doesn't take you to the download site for the manual, just click through the menus and look for the punch series amps. Don't let the numbers fool you, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Well, I ghetto-rigged it just to test it out, and holy crap. Definitely made the speakers come alive. It's an under-rated amp for sure.

Awesome! You've got a nice little amp there. It should last you quite a while longer.

It will last untill I manage to get a decent 4-channel for all my speakers.

Fair enough! Not to try to sway you, but if you get the chance to pick up an Infinity 7541, I would definitely look into it. I have the 7540 in my car, and it sounds amazing on my four speakers in my 98. I got it for ridiculously cheap (open box at Circuit City). Have fun and enjoy the music!

I'll find something. I got to fix the Delta before anything. Ran into a ditch today and the metal is just a grinding under-neath and there is every last drop of power steeing fluid I had on the carports floor. :(

Eeek, that's no good... I'm sorry to hear that! I hope it's not too terrible to fix. Good luck with that!

Well, there are alot of dirt roads...so yes sorta 4x4ing. Careless driving (55+mph on dirt roads) I'll have to tear into it later today, cause for some reason it is cold here in the south this morning.

Scraping noise was due to the hose clamp (WTF?) on the CV boot came loose. Tightened, fine. Power sterring was leaking becasue of a small leak in the top line. Actually didn't leak as much fluid as I thought, still enough for it to not perform correctly. Took a 20 minute test drive and it was perfect (well as perfect as a 20 year old car gets ).

Next year, you'll have to take it to vegas to celebrate its coming of age ;-)
