Please see the diagram below, and note that the total load impedance will be the sum of the impedance of each speaker. This results in an easier load for the amplifier, resulting in cooler operation and cleaner signal, but less power output.

Click the Calculator button to open a calculator in a new window. The calculator will allow you to determine the impedance of up to six speakers wired in series.

* Note that in a series connection, a passive crossover connected to any one speaker will affect all speakers.
* The total impedance (or Z) of speakers connected in series is determined by the following formula

Total Z = Speaker 1 Z + Speaker 2 Z ...

If the impedance of each connected speaker is 4 ohms, the resulting total impedance:

Total Z = 4 + 4
Total Z = 8 ohms
