Rear speakers- Roadmaster 6x9's $20
Amp- 300 watt vr3 $50
Sub- 12" older mtx in a truck box from a pawn shop $35
Wiring- scosche $20

Grand total of $175

I had a pretty sweet Jensen tape deck with an input on the front for a portable CD player in my 1989 VW Fox (first car). It was power a pair of Pioneer 6x9s that came with it... after I modified the back dash (hammer and tinsnips) I was able to bolt them down! The cones cracked eventually, and I "fixed" them with electrical tape and they just kept playing! Up front, I had a pair of Pioneer 3.5" speakers in the dash that I got from a friend. Eventually, I inherited a pair of 8" MTX subs in a goofy little box that I powered with a 220 watt Jensen cheapo amp. I was such a badass!

First system in the delta 88 consisted of an Aiwa CDC-MP32 head unit, two Thump! amps, coaxial 3.5s and 6x9s, and a thump! 10" subwoofer....

It was less than desirable...all bought from the local Meijer supermarket... Except for the Aiwa unit, which was bought from Best Buy.

Later it was upgraded to a Clarion DXZ-835MP, Viper 650.2 component set, Kole Audio amps, and a Adire Audio Shiva 12" subwoofer....right now most of that stuff is still in there, just not in operation, the Shiva was sold to a friend...who I am still waiting for payment from.

The first system in my Intrigue is still there and in operation...
Bose head unit, stock CD changer, steering wheel controls, PAC OEM-1 adapter to get RCA outputs from Bose unit, two Blaupunkt PA-2150 amplifiers, CDT Audio EF-61CFi/24 component set...and I had a CDT EF-12 subwoofer, but upgraded to a CDT SQ-12 subwoofer.

It will be changing in the near future though...

1984 Chev Caprice - 600watt Pyramid amp, 2 10" MTX Road Thunder subs, stock 4x6, stock 6x9, JVC something or another CDplayer... Kicked ass for the time!

First system was in my 87 Delta 88 (god I miss it badly) first car as well. Consisted of a Panasonic HU, Polk DB650 6 1/2 front speakes, DHD 6 1/2 rear speakers, and 2 Sony 12" subs powered by a Legacy 400 watt amp. I thought I was cool and all, until I realized Sony sucks

Mine first was pretty recent in My Ciera. Two Type R 12", each had its own 1000watt kenwood amp. They sat in a ported box that took up the whole trunk, had to cut the back seat support to get it in. Whole trunk was Dynamated, and the wiring had a 1.2farad? stinger capacitor. New alpine 6x9 and 3 1/2" rockfords. Alpine H.U. Total was about $1300?? if I remember correctly.

A broken power antenna and a stock cassette player that wouldn't turn on. Even the clock was dead lmao!

My first "system" was a boombox sitting on the back seat. It would run on 12v so I ran a wire under the seat up to the cigarette lighter. It didn't even have a cd player, I had an older Discman (without skip protection) and one of those tape player adapters to play a cd. I think I had that setup for almost the first whole year I had the car on the road, I wanted to put all the money I could towards fixing up other things, the stereo wasn't as high on the list of priorities. The original AM radio in the dash would work through one speaker.... but you can only listen to so much talk radio and polka music

I remember that boombox didn't always stay on the seat very well. If I had to take a sharp corner or hit the brakes fast the boombox and cd player would usually end up crashing onto the floor.... yep, I was pretty fancy

First system was just a Pioneer Premier head unit with iPod control in my 99 Intrigue.

I then took it (the Premier head unit) out and stuck it in my 01 Intrigue along with Pioneer Premier PRS 6 3/4" components in the doors and Pioneer Premier D series 2 way 6x9's in the rear...I'm waiting how to remove the rear armrest so I can put in 2x Pioneer Premier D series 6 1/2" 2 ways in the back seat.

Might as well revive this thread for a bit.

This if my first 'true' system, I got it off Ebay 3 days ago for about a C-note and change.

Jensen Mpa6611x.
Handles CD/CDMP3/CDR/CD-RWs
Has integrated MMC/SD and USB readers
Ipod connectivity out of the box
Wireless remote control (w/ battery!)
Removable, motorized(!!) faceplate
:D
Image

The removable faceplate is an awesome idea. There is ONLY ONE faceplate that my unit will work with. WITHOUT IT, the unit is WORTHLESS. Great theft deterrent since I'm going to college this summer.

My first ¨system¨ was in my Olds-powered Chevy truck. It consisted of the following-

Head unit: Some aftermarket off-brand tape deck that I pulled out of a friends 1977 Bonneville.

Speakers: Front- Factory 4x10 from a 1984 Olds Cutlass
Rear- Factory 6X9s from a 1999 Monte Carlo, housed in wal-mart speaker boxes.

Amp: Some rouge 2 channel, 250 watt amp that I found in the truck when I bought it.

It sounded pretty good, for how cheap it was-

My current system is

Pioneer head (deh-6500 i think)
Rockford power series 6 1/2s in the front doors
Kenwood tweeters in the dash
Rockford punch series 6x9s in the rear deck
2 10¨ Rockford punch (The original punch series) subs, in a ported box.
Amp is a 2 channel, 540 watt Older power-acoustik Gothic series.

My system is finally finished!
Received the under-dash mount early last week.
Took all of 4 hours from opening the boxes to screwing the mount to the glove box.

It now consists of:
Jensen MPA6611x Head unit ( got for $95 and it retails for 200+)
Used unknown-brand 2x 12in subwoofers, and 2 tweeters, mounted/boxed/all-in-one unit for $30
Dual 580 watt amplifier for $90
Stock rear speakers
75ft of 16 gauge speaker wire (ALL OF IT!)

Stock front speakers are blown ( D: ) but they're next.
Anybody know where to find info on removing them??
I don't want to take the dash off. It's way to brittle.

Anyway, pics.

Head unit capable of playing from the following:
USB drives
SD/MMC cards (Using currently)
CD/Mp3-CD/CDR/CD-RW discs
AM/FM/XM radio tuners
Ipod connectivity
Auxiliary input via a Headphone jack.
Image

Also managed to polish the chrome. ( and just the chrome!!)

Mmm... Upgrades.

Replaced the no-name bullshit speakers with MTX Jackhammers
Image

These make the rear-view mirror almost useless, it shakes so violently.
If you hold up newspaper to the woofer, it will tear it to pieces.
The back seat now doubles as a massage and music lounge chair.

Best C-note I ever spent.

It's nice that you have the box secured with a strap and all...but it looks like it's right against the subwoofer surrounds? Not very good for the subs....
