I recently purchased a new CD player for my 85 supreme. I removed the old radio and began wiring the CD player. Using the wiring diagram from the original radio, I cut the power and ground wires and soldered them to the power and ground wires for the CD player. To check to see if they were correct, I turned the ignition to Accessory but there was no sign of life in the CD player. If anyone could offer any assistance and or tips, it would be greatly appreciated. (Pictures soon)
Sounds like you only have the memory wire of the stereo hooked up.
Constant 12V+ Orange
Switched 12V+ Yellow
Ground Black
Illumination Gray
Dimmer Brown
Antenna Trigger Pink
Antenna Right Front
Front Speakers 3 1/2" Dash
Left Front (+) Tan
Left Front (-) Gray
Right Front (+) Light Green
Right Front (-) Dark Green
Rear Speakers 4" x 10" Rear Deck
Left Rear (+) Brown
Left Rear (-) Yellow
Right Rear (+) Dark Blue
Right Rear (-) Light Blue
The stock Orange wire should be hooked up to the Yellow wire on the new radio (constant), the stock Yellow wire should be hooked up to the Red wire on the new radio (switched)...

I would've thought buying the wireharness is the proper way, in case you're selling it and want to keep the CD player. I did mine wihtout the wireharness too, but because the previous owner already screwed it up and put in his own harness on, but at least he color coded the wires properly so it was easy to rewire.
Any luck getting it to work? If you don't have a Digital Multimeter, I highly recommend one...even a test light...make sure you're getting power on the accessory/ignition wire and check the fuses of course...
