Since I don't have the cash to get a decent unit in my car....I figured a cheap alternative would be a cassette adapter. None of them want to work in my cars cassette player, they all spit out seconds after I put them in it says Cln briefly and always displays an E10 error

1. Phillips (Wal-Mart)
2. Griffin Direct Deck (Target)
3. Some random name (Radio Shack)

None of those work.

E10:The tape is tight and the player can’t turn the
tape hubs. Remove the tape. Hold the tape with the
open end down and try to turn the right hub to the left
with a pencil. Turn the tape over and repeat. If the
hubs do not turn easily, your tape may be damaged and
should not be used in the player. Try a new tape to
make sure your player is working properly.

Oh ya I tried A Belkin Tunecast FM Transmitter had no luck with that as well....giant POS.

Any suggestions...i'm fading quick :(

have you tried turning the wheels on the cassette adapter? Do they turn? I would then take a known good tape and compare it physically with your tape adapter. See if you can find any differences. Its just a machine, you have to trick it into believing the adapter is a real tape.

im currently using a radioshack adapter. i hate the thing so much. it's one of the reasons i decided to upgrade my sound system. when the tape is in, it makes this annoying whine/clicking that can only be drowned out by the lovely sound that my stock speakers produce. I cant wait to install my ipod adapter and headunit...

I am certain that brando posted a link to a page regarding modifying stock ACdelco decks to get a TRUE auxilary input. The sound quality of this mod is supposed to be excellent. Let me see if I can locate the post.

I don't even have an 8 track player, let alone a new-fangled cassette deck in mine.

I've been using an FM transmitter from Pelican for my playstation portable, works good enough for me. :D

Yes, I was certain I saw something. Here it is. If you are familiar with a soldering iron, and have basic 12V knowhow, you could likely do this also. Cheap fix!
