I'm using a 455 engine from a 1976 Olds 98, in a "Special" that I've built. I had a bespoke exhaust made for it. It looks great but doesn't give the right V8 sound. The guys who built the exhaust managed to have two pipes come from the "Siamesed" central port in the cylinder head so there are 4 downpipes from each head. (Only 6 would not have looked right) I thought that was the problem. However, having experimented by blanking off the fourth downpipe and trying a few other things, I haven't been able to get the sound I want. Should this engine produce a nice V8 sound with the original manifolds? I'm prepared to buy a pair and have the current exhaust reworked to fit if that's the answer. Please note, however, that I'm in the UK, not the US. I would have posted a photo but can't see how to do that!
