Today I was cleaning my trunk out and started to look how to put my speakers in again and noticed a rut hole in that little pocket in the side of the trunk. It goes right through. I am thinking about grinsing it down and spraying with rust converer. Then prine it and fiberglass it like i did on my old Dodge Shadow.

I thought I would post this here first see what you thought or my idea. See if you could suggest a product that works well on rust. Or maybe another idea on how to attack this rust.

I want to keep my baby...any help you can provide will be great.

JUSTIN

I would probably just sand it down and spray it with underbody coating. Speaking of that, I would probably spray the whole bottom of the car where rust is likely with underbody coating. It is like 1.88 at walmart.

Thats just what we do with all of our cars in idaho because they go apeshit about salting the roads.

what your talkin about doin is the fast way and covering it up
the correct way is to cut out the old rsut hole and make a new piece of sheet metal and weld in the new piece
then glass then bondo then finsih glaze then a corrosive proteced primer like ppg`s ncp271
then prep for paint
that`s the correct way in a nut sheel to fix a rust hole

Be careful with underbody coating. If you spray it on and there is ANY hint of water trapped between the sheetmetal and underbody, it will make things rust even faster.

Like Bdyman said, THE ONLY correct way to fix rust is to cut out all of the afflicted areas, make a patch panel and weld it back in place. Because once you start grinding, you'll probably find there is a lot more there than you first thought.
