I am working on a guys car to fix it so his wife can drive it and the whole fuel system is rotted out...on a 90 Pontiac Bonneville with the vin C 3800 LN3 (the same as the 3800 in the back of the twin engine 442!) well the engine and trans are in great condition! and since his other car can be fixed for cheaper (Cadilac 6.0L 4-6-8 V8) It looks like i will be able to get the bonnevile for me and Al for free or $50 !!!!! there's our front 3800 V6 engine!!!!!      \:D/

ohh yeah I love bartering! I'll keep yall informed!

James

Dont know...the 3100 is lighter with it's aluminum heads but i know the 3800 has to be a better Tq rating...
I would assume that a 90 Olds Toronado Trofeo 3800 LN3 Vin C makes the same power as a 90 Pontiac bonneville 3800 LN3 Vin C....

but at least we would have two identical engines, true Twins, and interchangable parts too! If we can get it for less than $100 bux including gas towing it to Palatine from Hangover Park then we might just go fer it!
We sure as hell arent gonna find an L32/L67 drivetrain for $100!
we shale see....

BTW anyone know what the power figures are for these two engines?
I know once we put the turbo on the rear 3800 she will haul a$$!!!
then we can just turbocharge the front 3800!!!!
go from 12 cylinders at 6.9L total displacement to 12 cylinders at 7.6L total displacement! Thats 460 cubic inches folks! better than 417 Cu Inches!
No replacment for Displacment!

165HP @ 5200rpm
210ft-lbs @ 2000rpm

330HP
420ft-lbs

for two of those engines, wow!! its 0-60 will be around 4.2s im guessing because it will have such good traction from all the extra weight

thanks speedy! yeah i guess it would be just a little heavier!
I know that the 94 3100 was rated close to 160 Hp and the later roller rocker (96+)heads added like 10Hp but I would hope that the higher Tq rating would help accelerate the car!
Regardless I am still working on getting the 90 bonnieville, I am still pretty sure I can "ofer" to junk the car for him LOL
we shall see.....[maniacle laugh/]
