I'm trying to remove the heater box on my 1978 olds cutlass salon, in prep for a v8 swap, and to clean it up/re paint it.

and I need to know, does the part of the box under the hood, seperate from the under dash portion? if so, how????

I have all the firewall mounting bolts loose, but the under dash components seem to still be attached to the part under the hood.

anyone have a diagram to help me out???? :!:

I don't have a diagram, but I think there are a few you need to access from inside the box, IIRC. You will need to remove the "lid" and then remove the heater core, and then the screws should be accessible.

If there are none there, they are probably in an inconspicuous spot either on the bottom side of the fire wall side, or the top side of the interior side.

It's been 4 years since I have had one apart, and I can't remember for sure-

Brando probably has an AllData break down, maybe he will post it-
