About five years ago I purchased a 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass fastback from my uncle, who has owned the car since the 1980's. I believe the car to be a mid-level "S" model, as it has several S badges (including grille, roof sail panels and interior door panels). It also has a single "Cutlass Supreme" script on the grille, which I imagine was just added at some point, but since I'm not entirely sure (and haven't had a chance to speak with my uncle in a while), I thought I'd ask here. Was the Cutlass Supreme ever available as a fastback (specifically, for the 1971 model year)? I have only seen "notchback" Supreme models.

I also have a couple other questions I'm hoping to have some light shed upon:

1. What is Oldsmobile's name for their "fastbacks"?

2. What's the difference between a "Holiday Coupe", "Sports Coupe" and "Club Coupe"?

3. What does the "Holiday" refer to when speaking of "Holiday Coupe" and "Holiday Convertible"?

4. What did the "S" model come with? What standard options differentiated it from the base-model and Cutlass Supreme?

Thanks for any information you guys can give me!

The Standard Catalog of American cars says the following for 1971:
Cutlass S: "The Cutlass 'S' series had two coupe models with a six-cylinder or V8 engine. Standard equipment included: front and rear armrests, cigarette lighter, carpeting, dome light, chrome molding package, radio antenna in windshield, seat belts with shoulder harnesses and Deluxe steering wheel. Standard tire size was F78-14. Upholstery was cloth or vinyl."

Cutlass Supreme: "The top Oldsmobile intermediate was the Cutlass Supreme. Three body styles were available including a convertible, in its next to last year as a Cutlass offering. Standard equipment included :armrests, cigarette lighter, V8 engine, carpeting, woodgrain dash, interior light package, moldings, seatbelts with shoulder harnesses, Deluxe steering wheel and chorme hubcaps. Standard tire size was F78-14. Upholstery was vinyl or cloth."

An easier way to verify would be to use the VIN number. Here is a break down for 1971:

First symbol: 3 (Oldsmobile)
Second through 5th symbols indicate body/style number:
3536-Cutlass 6 cyl 4dr wagon
3569 Cutlass 6 cyl 4 dr Town Sedan
3187 Cutlass 6 cyl 2dr Holiday Coupe
3636-Cutlass 8 cyl 4dr wagon
3669-Cutlass 8 cyl 4dt Town Sedan
3287-Cutlass 8 cyl Holiday Coupe
3587-Cutlass S 6 cyl Holiday hardtop
3577-Cutlass S 6 cyl 2dr Sports Coupe
3687-Cutlass S 8 cyl 2dr Holiday hardtop
3677-Cutlass S 8 cyl 2dr Sports Coupe
4267-Cutlass Supreme 2dr Convertible
4239-Cutlass Supreme 4dr Holiday Sedan
4257-Cutlass Supreme 2dr Holiday Coupe

Symbol 6 indicated model year (1- 1971)

Symbol 7 indicated the plant where the car was made:

E- Linden, N.J
G- Framingham, M.A
M- Lansing, M.I
Z- Freemont, C.A
X- Fairfax (Kansas City), Kansas
R- Arlington, Texas
Remaining symbols are the plants production number starting with 100001.
