Hey everyone

I might buy a '94 olds 88 with only 55,600KM's on the odometer (about 30,000 miles!!!).

I havent even seen the car yet... Going to do so today. The car was owned by an old lady that used it on sundays only (how stereotypical???) And everything is like brand NEW! OEM tires still on her! I heard it was completely loaded, white in color, blue interior w/leather. They also told me it was a V8, but I thought that was BS, I think they only had 3800's in those, right?

The only problem is that they are asking 7500 canadian, and I really dont want to pay that for a 94. If I could get it for maybe 5500, it would be the closest thing to a brand new car I could get for that kind of money. What do you guys think?

Does anyone know what the reputation on 94' 88 royales are? I'd be interested to hear!

you're right, it must be a 3800 in it...

but you never know, maybe the old lady had something custom done and has a 383 stroker or something in there

as far as reputation goes, my mother has a '93 nintey eight that's coming up on 200K miles. it's been really reliable and hasn't needed any major repairs. it probably shares alot of parts with the 94 eighty eight you're looking at.

nice find, althought that is alot of money for a 94 even if it does has low miles, because if you take an old lady car and start using it everyday, things usually start breaking.

as far as my new car situation goes it can't come soon enough. i'm cruising around with no headliner or carpet because the windshield is leaking. it sucks, that exhaust is so loud with no carpet in there.

Those are great cars, the guy next door had a 1998 88 LS with the 3.8 V6 until last summer when it got hit (totaled) but it had over 80,000 miles on it with no mechanical probs.

I'll agree with that. My second car was an '84 Thunderbird with about 46,000 miles on it. It was 10 years old when I bought it, and I only had it a year and a half. It blew 3 head gaskets, and warped the head twice. I think it just wasn't used to all that driving. But that price doesn't sound all bad. Don't forget thats Canadian, so it's less than $5000 in US dollars, which isn't bad for a car like that. So if you talk them down it would be a good buy I think.

I saw the car, and it's VERY nice, mint shape inside and out... BUT, its not worth the 7500 canadian he's asking for sure. It doesnt have leather, but has most of the power options. Very clean clean clean car. I am going to go over there again soon with a 5000 dollar check, and see if he'll take it - i'll put on the "well this is ALL I could come up with, and I REALLY want this car" - poor student routine and see what happens.

That's how you do it. Just keep an eye on it, sooner or later he'll take less. But don't give him the "I really want it" though. Let him know you'll walk away, and if he wants to sell it bad enough, he'll take it. Having a check right there will help too.
