A good shitty day?
Yea, well today I got my new RCA cable in the mail and my LED bulbs from http://www.SuperBrightLeds.com which I must say has very fast shipping (USPS First Class) and the bulbs look great (they were pretty cheap compared to discountleds.com). I got one 44mm 9 blue LED bulb for the dome and two 6 blue LED 194 bulbs for the courtesy lights in front (below the dash). So that's the good news...I got the LED bulbs and RCA Cable, which I only got the LEDs installed. The LEDs do look great in the dark though...a lot brighter than the ones I had from RadioShack...I can actually see stuff now...

Bad news...I started to install the RCA...so I needed to start the car and put the steering wheel column shifter all the way down to get a part of the dash off...so I was holding the brake down while I was working the dash piece off and all of a sudden the brake pedal goes all the way down to the floor
So....I had to jack it up...I noticed it leaking A LOT by the front passenger side wheel. So, I check it out and the brake line is bad. Anyways...that's what I worked on today, I took the old brake line out and now I gotta wait til next week to get a new one from NAPA. Man...I was glad it happened in the backyard though and not on the road... :?
The line was in terrible condition...it must have been original because it was a lot more rusty than the other lines which hardly had any rust. When I was taking the line out it actually just broke apart where it was leaking from.

yea, at least it happened in the backyard, not out on the road.... make sure you check all of the other lines too!

hmm, I just thought of this... shouldn't the rear brakes still work even if you blew a line in the front?

There's a deffinite thank god that it was in the back yard and not when you got off of an interstate! OUCH. My Trofeo did that once... it needed new rear brakes and a brake line.. I don't remember which side it was...

yea, kinda the same thing happened to me in my old winter beater, But it was a line that blew in the back, so the front brakes kept working... I drove it for 6 months like that

by the way, having no rear brakes made that burnout picture in my album possible

Yea...All the other lines look good, except this one, which was rusty.
I forgot to mention I also got a bloody nose right after it happened...

Hehe...nope, didn't do any of that stuff...it seemed like a normal good day until all that shit happened.
Well, since I got that rounded off bolt out (other post), I got everything installed. The tube bending was rather easy, used a Craftsman tube bender (similar to this) and I bent it to shape like the old line, as I went bend by bend, I used masking tape and taped the two lines together as I went along...to make it easier to work with. Then I just went underneath the car, slipped the end underneath the exhaust heatshield, and then maneuvered the other end to the master cylinder. I still need to bleed the brakes, but I am just taking a little brake now from removing that stripped bolt, I got everything back together (except for the wheel of course) and I put brake fluid in and it didn't leak out! 8)

sounds like a good project... I had to make a new high pressure fuel line from my fuel pump to the carb on my 79 caddy once... It wasnt that much fun, I went through 3 lines before I got one that worked!!!

Yep, well I finished and I can brake again. 8)
