Hi rr4567, welcome to TOC.

1) From the pictures, does the engine look ok? ........
Looks like it has a few miles on it. Any hints as to what we should be looking for?

2) The car has a dead fuel pump; is it ok to pour fuel into the air intake hose so the engine receives fuel, and it can start? ........
Dumping fuel into the intake is a "quick and dirty" way to isolate a lack of fuel supply as the cause of a "no start" condition, but will not pinpoint its actual cause. Works better with a non computer system but will work with yours.
I suggest a spray of WD-40 instead of gasoline, to lessen the possibility of a backfire.

What do you see, that led you to those conclusions?
