First I have a 84 custom crusier. It lacks power and gets very loud when pressing the gas. It started getting louder after the cat. coverter was replaced. Could this have loosen the headers?? Second question, transmission leaks only when car has been sitting a while and starts cooling down. Which transmission seal is this??

Now I also have a 84 delta 88. I have been the u-joints replaced, tires balanced & rotated, front end work done, and had the transmission replaced.(at the same time) But I still have a shake arounf 50-60 mph. Any idea what could cause this?

Hi tj32643, hello All,

Welcome to TOC.

If the lack of power started with the installation of the CAT, your exhaust is clogged. I'd take it back to the installer.

Could be any of at least 5 seals. A cleanup and visual inspection of the area will let you see if it is leaking from the front, rear, left, or right side of the trans. all but one can be replaced with the trans in the car.

Was all this done while attempting to cure the shake?
If the problem is in the front end you'll feel it in the steering wheel.
An engine problem will be felt at the gas pedal.
If it's in the drivetrain, the seat of your pants will tell you.

Regards, Norm

Another th9ing that willc ause it to shake is an unbalanced driveshift. I have never dealt with one, but from what i hear if its not balanced right it will shake the car at higher speeds
