Not really too sure on the size on the Catalytic (sp?) converter. I do know I had my exhaust replaced to pass Mayland emissions to get it over where I live on my 87' Delta. I got a Flowmaster, I think, installed on mine. Has a nice rumble to it, kinda like a V8, but not really any performance gains. The only reason it needed replaced was becasue the entire system was just about to fall off anyways and it sounded liek a bee farting in a tin can. There are other ways around passing emissions then just replacing the exhaust system

Anyways i think im going to go with the Magnaflow Catalytic and the Magnaflow muffler to try and get a little more power if that doesnt work ill look for some 3800 series 2 or 3 headers if they would mount right up

The pipes will be 2.25" more than likely. Unless you are planning to beef the motor up to pass higher amounts of exhaust, a high flow cat is probably just going to burn up your $$$ more than anything. Stick with stock components, its much cheaper.

If you want a loud muffler, thats just what it will be. I put a dual exhaust muffler on my car for a camaro V8, and it didnt give me any different performance, just a nicer sound. (mostly did it for the look)

I think you would benefit more from a cold air intake than a performance exhaust...

Hello everyone,

All are questions any competent muffler guy will answer. He'll advise which choices are best for your car and your planned use. He'll also explain the differences (price and efficiency) of power bent vs mandrel bent pipe, and the differences in cost.

The best time to consider these type changes, is when the components need replacement. Less letdown when they don't meet your expectations.

If a shop only stocks one line, I would trust them much less than another that sells many.

Other than the usual "placebo effect", there is not much there unless you want to go inside the engine.

I build the exhaust systems on my Toys. Local muffler shop does my stock stuff. My stock stuff has always run better than most.

Regards, Norm
