sometimes a buggered sensor can send the car for a loop. A MAF (mass air flow) sensor is quite common for causing unexplained stalls at idle, and poor throttle response. Do you have the "check engine light" coming on? If so, the next step would be to figure out what code you are getting. If not, it may be a little trickier to locate your culprit.
Also, can you explain the nature of the stalls? Does it stall sitting at lights? Does it stall more often when the car is cold, or hot? As much info as possible is the best way for us to help you. As always, if in doubt, take it to be looked at by a shop, they may charge you, but they know exactly what to look for in a timely fashion, and you wont lose your job for being late
