I have what I think is a 77 toronado transmission bolted to a 350 ? and installed in the middle of a 66 corvair. The problem I am having now is getting the starter to engage with the flywheel. The starter gear does not go out far enough. I don't know if I have the right flywheel??
The starter is not the one that bolts on from the side with 3 bolts, if bolts on from the end with 2 bolts. The trasmission in a turbo hydramatic 77-0J 12378. Flywheel is about 13.5 inches in diameter. Hope some one can help me at least id the parts I have.

Hi wildman, hello everyone,

Welcome to TOC.

I'm thinking you are into a genuine "can of worms".

I suggest you post your problem here in ROPs Hardcore section, with "Toro trans" in the subject line. Pics would go a long way toward the ID of what you have. There are several regulars there with experience in that specific area.

If you happen to get a negative response, just ignore it.

Regards, Norm
