I went to firestone today to get an alignment done on my 99 olds intrigue. I installed KYB struts and B+G lowering springs a while ago. I got it aligned right after I did that and I guess all was well because they didn't say anything was wrong. Well, the lowering springs weren't exactly too comfortable. So I put the stock springs back on and neglected having an alignment for a while.

The guy told me that whoever installed the struts, they didn't slot them so they couldn't adjust the camber.
Told me to bring it back to whoever installed them and have them slot the struts....well...
So what do I do? Bring it somewhere else and see if they can slot the struts? Or is that even necessary? I asked the guy about those camber bolt kits, and he said those aren't the best solution, which I searched on google and it appears to be true.

How do you "slot" the struts? I've read quite a few different ways of doing it online, even someone modifying the strut tower holes which seemed quite wrong.

I got a lifetime alignment package for my car at firestone...

Go back and talk to the alignment guy. Tell him you did the R & R yourself. Ask him what you need to do next.

Surprising what can be learned from a simple conversation with a specialist.

Indeed, they seemed to be/were rather busy and wanted to get me out of there.

I'll try a different firestone nearby.

You could also look up "wheel alignment" in your yellow pages (or look for it under auto, I guess that would be better). There's a guy who specializes in wheel alignment in my area, his sign actually said "Wheel Alignment Shop" for a long time until he put his name on there in bigger print than that. Being that he's an independent mechanic he won't rush anything and a guy who specializes in wheel alignment could probably tell you what was wrong with whatever Firestone did as well.

I just got back from the other firestone, all seems well now.
They said they only had to do one side, so it was cheaper than what they had actually quoted me (half price).
