Hello,

I have some issue with the front passenger power lock on my 1995 Eighty Eight Royal LS. I'd like to pull the panel and take a look inside. Can anyone provide help with doing this or a link to a step by step?

Also, if I end up having to install a new power lock motor, how difficult is that?

Thanks

As requested, the issue with my power lock is that sometimes it doesn't fully lock, and once I manually lock it I have to hit the power switch 3 or 4 times to make it unlock again.

I have seen where the metal linkage rods wear in the plastic actuator levers to the point where there is excess play in the linkage so that multiple activations of the servo motor are required to move the lock levers. If you get the door panel off, you will see what has happened pretty easily, if this is the case.

Otherwise it could be a problem with the lever off the motor, which might require a new motor.

Hope this helps out,

Andrew

Thanks, I understand what you mean.

I didn't think anyone would be posting here since it seems this topic has been sorta moved to another thread I started here:

got it, ok youll need a flathead screw driver and a phillips,
First you need to pry the back of the window switch so it comes up, disconnect it from the wiring harness (it will take a lot of finesse and patience so just take your time) proceed by looking for IIRC 2 screws, take them loose, proceed to the the edge of the door panel you will see the courtesy light carefully pry it out from the top side and disconnect the light bulb from the harness, then there will be one screw there, now just pull from the top of door panel to remove it completley and disconnect any other wiring that holds it to the harness. Dont worry if you break the push clips that hold the door panel on autozone sell new ones for 2.99. Take the plastic sheathing off, and proceed with trouble shooting, BTW you can reconnect your window/unlock switch now as well. Hope this helps, as this all from memory.
