Used a FRAM Air Filter CA3916, what do you guys use?
Just bought a Purolator or something rather filter but noticed this one in the garage so I used it...

And also, one more thing....near the pulley system (belts)....it seems to make a squeaky sound every once in a while....you can really only hear it when you open the hood, and it comes from that general area....could it be the belts themselves? Or something else.... :?

I have a K&N air filter.... I don't know if it actually helped get more power out of the engine, but I like the fact that it is reusable. Just wash, oil, and reinstall!

it may have boosted the power a bit, but it's hard to tell because the last paper filter I used was pretty clogged up.... so changing to a clean paper filter at that point may have produced the same result.

I use Napa gold series, I don't know who makes it for them.

Your belts are either loose or bad. retighten them up, if they still sqeak then you need new belts

Yea...they might be loose, I'll have to check that out tomorrow...

I have used a 14"x5" K&N filter and Xstream air filter lid back when I had the cowl hood on my car.
Now I just use a normal paper filter. Mostly because I was changing my intake/carb setup so often (using a 2" carb spacer, no spacer, etc) that it was just getting expensive buying all of those K&N filters. I believe I own 3 of them and have never put enough miles on any of them to need to clean them.

brando, your belts aren't loose, your car has an automatic tensioner. i have never seen a tensioner go bad on these cars, mine is still the original after 272,500 miles. i say check the belt, it might need replacing. and don't use any of that "belt dressing" crap on it, all it does is make a mess, just replace the belt if it's cracked or glazed over (shiny).

Mine's making the same sounds... serpentine belts are sweet in my opinion... You break one on the road, you dont even need tools to replace them! I carry a spare everywhere I go. They're also not cheap (compared with old style). New belt should solve your squeekiness - I should think about doing that to mine soon aswell, car starting to sound like mouse!

Yea...I just read up on my Hayne's Manual last night...
I read about that tensioner, you just check it and if it's out of line you replace the belt....sounds pretty easy... 8)

And they do look kinda "glazed" over....
What's this belt dressing all about? Never heard of it....

belt dressing is like a quick fix for belt squeak. you spray it on belts and it quiets them down. it may quiet them down, but it also flies all over when you run the engine.

And if your like me, all over you too!! My car seams to have more trouble with breaks then belts, whit squeaking that is. I need to walsh out the break dust about once a week to keep them quite. It's usually not to much of a problem, except for the winter months. Sorry it's kinda but oh well

Hmm... sounds like your pads are glazed. Go on the high way, and (check your mirror before) and apply the brakes slowly, but progress to full out braking (without skidding the tires). This will heat your pads up, and wear off the glazing. (was told to do this by a mechanic when I had the same problem...) Unless the sound is more a metallic grinding; in which case you'll need new pads.

sometimes if ya roll backwards at a good clip and jam on the brakes it'll knock the glaze off
