Hey guys my 88 94 olds is giving me problems runs great but will shut off out of no where it used to start right up now it takes a little time to re start. Last year this was happening and I had to replace my crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor not sure. Have any suggestions?

Is there a hesitation, or misfire? Or is it the same as if you turned the switch to off? Describe the conditions (temperatures, under load, cruising, coasting, and/or stopped) as best you can.

Is this immediately after the engine quits, or is it a separate symptom? Does start more easily if you wait a couple of minutes before trying to restart?

Does it occur during cold and/or warm starts?

Regards, Norm

Sometime the car will accelerate without my foot gas pedal. So when the car stops you restart it and it drives fine lately it shuts off takes awhile to start but again drives normal. Both times the car has shut while I was driving through an intersection. Normally the car will shut off when warm.

Check the wiring harness, to/from the Crank Position Sensor, for open or short circuits. A loose connector can cause an open circuit.

Hi Norm,

I am having similar problems. Where is the Crank sensor? Is it behind the crank pulley?

Thanks
