My auto repair guy says that you can't replace the wheel bearings on my '85 Toronado, but have to replace a whole "hub assembly". Can anybody confirm this? Thanks.

True. They use a sealed bearing hub assembly, front and rear. Can only be purchased as a complete unit.
If you plan to keep the car for a while, don't get the cheapest ones (china).
