Well the other night we (me and my dad's friend/mechanic) put new upper and lower radiator hoses on the Olds (replacing the originals!) new clamps, new thermostate, new therm. neck gasket, and new coolent. We also fixed a vaccum leak (a damaged cruise control vaccum hose). Another project done, getting the car closer to what I want it to be. :D

Sweet man! great work, hows it run now? You should notice a difference if u had both upper and lower that were originals!! What thermostat did u put in? Ac Delco? or another kind? Also what temp is it rated at? im guessing OEM which is 195F. There is alotta parts i wanna replace as well just dont have the $$$ as yet.

I went to my good friends at AutoZOne (were I have gotten all my parts, and so has my mechanic, etc for years) and I got a Auto ZOne 195 degree thermostate and some autozone anti-freeze. The old hoses still has the white lettering from the factory on them, and the original clamps. After we fixed the vaccum leak, the car started to idle much smoother, and without antifreeze leaking out, its staying clean under the hood (the old upper hose leaked). Noiw to fix the leaking exaust pipe.....

Speedy- Its leaking from the pipe that goes from the Cat to the muffler, right over the rear axle, guess it aint passing emissions like that.....

it is pretty big and can u hear the car is quite loud, if its really small and doesnt make a difference in sound it shouldnt effect ur emissions test. Just let ur cat get red hot and u'll pass with flying colours! Mine did i was suprised it was better than cars that were only 5 years old!! And i still have my original cat on. And gas cap, and injectors, EGR been replaced once, PCV been replaced numorous times.

stock V6? sounds like a race car? :? I dunno about that. I guess we might be thinking about different types of "race cars" though

I think you will pass emissions becasue ur car doesnt have many miles on it, so most of the components SHOULD be in good working order. If the emisson tester people are bitches than they might not let it get tested cause ur exhaust is leaking. What about ur O2 sensor? I always here if you replace an old one, it can reduce emissions and improve fuel economy.

I never checked it, but I know that there isnt a snow balls chance in hell that my car is passing emissions with that exaust system on it. Here in CT we just got our emissions suspened for 90 days so that the state can find why the test is failing cars that should pass.

PVC was replaced, I found this after looking through the old repair records, its was done in 1998 at about 31,000 miles.
