Ok. I know TPS sensor is supposed to be set at roughly 0.4 volts at idle. But, the computer is ok with it being anywhere from 0.25 to 0.6 or so volts.

If I play with this voltage adjustment, would that in turn affect my idle mixture and idle RPM? I havent screwed with it yet, but I think I could make this motor run a tiny bit smoother.... MAYBE?

Also, if you play with idle voltage, you will ultimately be playing with WOT voltage aswell... Can this affect performace slightly? Or does the computer make its own adjustments as you drive?

I believe when u adjust idle voltage ur messing with the whole throttle band. Because you could turn the screw out all the way, and move the tps around so that it reads 0.3 volts, than screw it in a little to get 0.35 or something, that would mean at idle ur throttle body wont be open as much. Or you could screw in the screw all the way than adjust the tps to read 0.4 maybe, so at idle it would always be high because it would be open alot more, in turn by changing this u can change the amount of air that enters for a specific voltage. Ive noticed a difference in the whole throttle band when u play with the TPS. Always make sure at WOT it reads 4.50 or higher.

Not sure, but the VIN code is 3. This is the 3.8L not the 3800.

How would I tell otherwise?

In not to sure of the dates of the motors, but before the 3800 series motor was introduced it was just a 3.8L, possibly in 89 is when they came out with the 3800 Series I. Currently there stuffing the newest 3800 Series III motor into the Grand Prix and Impala etc. Though I've read that the a new 3.9L from GM will eventually replace the 3.8L.
