So, I still have these tubular rear trailing arms to install. They're currently in my basement collecting dust...

I look on ALLDATA and it says I need a torque angle meter. Is this really necessary. Can I just bolt in these in and get them angled at a shop? Or is there a cheaper tool that I could use instead of the Kent Moore J 36660 Torque Angle Meter.

Hi Brando, hello All,

I would hope a new part would bolt in with no problem. From your description, it would be part of a wheel alignment.

Ask at your local shop.

If you need a torque angle meter then you are dealing with torque-to-yield bolts. I would highly suggest that they be installed with this tool, as there must be a reason why they use torque-to-yield bolts. I would take it to a shop, if you havent done so already

Hi andrewk, All

Didn't think about T to Y being used in that app, and never thought about using anything other than a torque wrench or a dial indicator.

And I continue to learn.

Regards, Norm

I havent seen them in this specific application either, but the only reason that I know of for the torque angle meter is for T to Y bolts. Im not sure why they would use these bolts in this application, but my best guess is because the stress that is placed on the parts would require the fasteners to be replaced if the arms were removed? And maybe the T to Y bolts ensure that the fastners get replaced? Just my guess. So we all continue to learn...
