Hello everyone,

The one DrRansom442 refered to here.

Anyone know anything about it? Looking for the Make in particular. Odds are it's a Ford (more postwar Fords out there than any other make), but I want to know before I speak.

His analogy is way out. Wondering how far. Full explanation (including why I used my Coupe(s) in mine) when I know the manufacturer.

Regards, Norm

Yup you caught me its a Ford alright, you are as intuative as you are all-knowing....ever occur to you I am comparing a 48 Olds to a 50 Olds? Shocker I know. Exactly how old are you, I want to know how long possibly THE stupidist man alive has survived?

"No please continue to highjack this thread with your wealth on knowledge, you were wrong here and STILL can not admit it. what is so hard "I was wrong" say it out loud as you read it if you must. The information is off of my window sticker but it is in fact a photocopy of GM's copy...you can get them from GM Heritage for a small donation, but that is infact MY 81, it belongs to. Do you feel the need to dispute that too? How about my name, if I tell you its "Ken" are you going to ask if that is how its spelt on my birth certificate? You are an idiot. A know-it-all-who-knows-nothing-at-all. I'd suggest before you respond to my threads, you say what you are about to type outloud first. As to your "questions" I am not sure which one I am alledgedly avoiding but I have no desire to respond to any more of your inane chatter. Thank you, good bye and have a nice live in YOUR delusion"

Did I say it was a Ford?

DrRansom442 wrote:

If you say so.

DrRansom442 wrote:

It did. But it's hard to believe anyone would take the trouble to replace a perfectly good ladder bar suspension in anything slower than an eight second car.

Everyone: That was part of my explanation.

When I'm wrong and someone rationally explains how and why, I am the first to admit it. Actually, it's easy for me because I do it a lot.

I disagree on both counts, but you are entitled to your opinion.

Suggestion noted.

We'll see.

Thinking of the proverbial "battle of wits". I don't think he has a weapon.

He has nothing but his bottle of "liquid courage".

Enjoy.

Old enough to know the difference between a '48 and a '49 Olds.

Don't know. Not knowledgeable on the subject. I only post on subjects I am familiar with.

I've always loved that pic Andrew but alas, I refuse to argue with the handicapped, apparently he not only doesn't comprehend well, he doesn't even recall what he types. If one is trying to have a battle of the wits, the spork isn't the preferred weapon

Make that "liquid huevos".

No credit for him showing up here. The credit goes to the effects resulting from his use of that bottle.

Yes, I know it's a cheap shot. I'll climb back out of the gutter, now.

Dr. Ransom, I think 88coupe has you by the nuts... ;-) And, I think he's got a good hold of em too. Be nice, and he might loosen his grip.

everyone is entitled to their opinion, personally sounds like he has himself by the nuts and has managed to squeeze off all the blood flow to the brain IMHO. But truth be said I have grown weary of him already. I really have no desire to dispute facts with him (espeically when he can not admit fault), or go over every detail I type line by line by line and I absolutely refuse to respond to his sophomoric, childish cut downs. Especially since he has shown himself to be a large hypocrite. I tried to respond to his inquiries (why escapes me now) But you know if he's just going to continue TRYING to snowball me, so that he may divert the attention away from his errors, so be it. It wasn't his post, nor his question. the original poster took my input, most likely verified it (I would with ANY internet info). So as far as Norm goes, I will not give him the attention he so obviously longs for in the really real world. He is not much different from Brandon, aside from Brandon knowing he's a dolt and actually being able to take a kick or 20000 when he's down. Norm is obviously trolling for an arguement. He is just going to have to find it somewhere else. It must be truely sad to be married and that lonesome. I pity him.

Hi All,

Anyone notice the similarities between DrRansoms and DrJays posts? Not ready to talk about the coincidence yet.

Back to the topic.

History:

There were big improvements in all GM, Ford, and Chrysler products for the ‘49 model year. In most in most cases the changes made the ‘48s obsolete, particularly Fords which got a top to bottom redesign.

’48 Ford rear suspension had changed little from the days of horse drawn wagons. Even today it’s referred to as “buggy springs”. When the OHV era started, the first thing that was upgraded, was the rear end/suspension. A back half might be a good choice depending on the intended use. Front suspension was retained, as it was lighter and worked well in straight line applications. Next time you get close to a T/F dragster, check it out.

’49 Ford products were light years ahead of the ’48s. Smaller version of the 9" diff on conventional leaf springs, only needs basic “traction bars” to run sub 12s.

’49 Chrysler products, like the other two, redesigned the bodies, but with minor changes to the, already up to date chassis.

GM also re bodied all lines and changed little on the ’49 chassis, including the ladder bar style, trailing arm/coil spring suspension that was carried over from the ‘48s. You might want to check out the ladder bar/coilover combos used in many street rods/drag cars in this century.

Using the above information:

Corrected his sloppy coding so we could all read it.

What do he and his car have to do with this thread? What's your point?

My coupes weigh just under 4000# each, have stock suspensions front and rear, and run on unleaded pump gas. If they weighed 3000# they would run high 10s, and still drive anywhere. Looks like you're trying to compare apples and oranges. If not, what's your point?

DrRansom442 wrote:

Not in any of my cars. First thing I did was cut the cage out of my Red Coupe. I have the time slip, so I don't need to return to the strip.

DrRansom442 wrote:

What a coincidence. About the same as my Coupes.

DrRansom442 wrote:

Engine is modified, everything else is true. Anyone experienced with '49/'50s would be asking what I did to dial in the combo, not calling me a liar. Posted the same facts on ROP and no one questioned my statements or numbers. Do you know something the rest of us don't?

No engine modifications? When did I say that?

Image

As everyone can see, it's a mild street cam. It's the only non OEM part in the 437 short block, everything else is OEM or OEM replacement.

DrRansom442 wrote:

Anyone who is familiar with the '49 and '50 88, and 51 88A, will disagree.

DrRansom442 wrote:

My point, exactly.

DrRansom442 wrote:
........ you compared a 77 Cutlass to a 50 88, I thought it a more applicible comparison to your car.

My request for clarification has still not been answered.

I believe my '70 Cutlass to be similar to a '77, and speaking from actual knowledge of both cars, I can honestly say, you don't have a clue.

Doesn’t take a large budget. It takes the kind of knowledge and experience that one doesn’t get off the internet. It also helps to start out with a base that only needs to be massaged, not redesigned.

Anything I missed or was unclear about?

Regards, Norm

Funny, DrJay had the same complaint. Same situation a drunk has problems dealing with. You are convincing me that he also has a drinking problem.

Difference is, Brandon doesn't have the ability to defend himself, I do.

Looking forward to seeing quotes of my many mistakes. If you can't find any, we will all understand.
