the sensor in the air box is a temperature sensor, which you can swap out with a resistor to trick the computer, or screw the sensor into a cone shaped filter. The sensor on the throttle body is your mass airflow sensor, which you must leave in tact for the computer to register the proper amount of airflow.
Cold air intakes have been done quite often on cars like yours.
